"Best toy, hours of fun" 2010-04-12
By Y. Zhai (Fremont, CA)
This is the best toy I bought so far, and my 3-1/2 boy loves it! He has already knocked out the models detailed in the instructions, and started to build up his own proto-type. We loves to play with him as well. The only downside is that there is no box come with it, so we have to make a box by ourselves (some of the components are pretty tiny). But overall, it's a great product for boys, and inexpensive as well.

"Great toy for 6 yo that loves Lego" 2010-03-18

My son loves tractors and he loves LEGO, so this toy was a hit. The thing that I like about it is that the tractors are easy enough for my 6 yo to put together by himself. Definitely a good purchase.

 "Fantastic beginner Lego set" 2010-03-16
By Kelly J. (Upper Michigan, United States)
This set is wonderful. I love the fact that the pieces are very basic, it's a perfect starter set. My son (almost 5) has had this set for nearly a year and he still loves to pull it out and build the trucks, take them apart and build them again.

"Perfect for younger Lego Lovers" 2010-01-19
By Jacquelyn C. Hughes (Atlanta, Ga USA)
This is the perfect Lego set for younger builders. My son is almost 4 and loves his Legos, but many of the sets are very difficult and intricate. This set offers something above the basic block box without being overwhelming. It comes with lots of wheels (aren't they the best part for little boys???) and many options for building really unique and engaging vehicles. Highly recommneded!

"Great Way to Introduce Legos" 2009-11-20
By David Osterlund
This is an excellent lego set. We got this set for my 3 year old son a year ago and he is still playing with it on a daily basis. The set is geared towards younger children and does not have as many small pieces as some of the other sets. My son and his friends have gotten a lot of play time out of these trucks and they are durable. They don't fall apart on him when he is trying to play. Also, the instructions have pictures of several other vehicles or variations that can be built with this set. My son cannot yet build these legos on his own but he is not far from it. He has watched my husband build and change the sets several times and will comment if you put something in the wrong place. He has built the steam roller on his own with some verbal instruction. The only problem we have had with this set is that the black piece that used to hold up the bulldozer shovel doesn't hold it up well anymore. The price on Amazon is terrible. This item is sold at Toys R Us, Walmart, and Target for $21.

American Innovative was founded to pursue the development of innovative new products that should exist, but don't. "Products that make sense" is our motto and the execution of this philosophy can be seen throughout the company's product line. Teach me Time! is the educational bedside clock that advances as your child grows. From ages 3-5 Teach me Time!'s color-changing nightlight teaches kids to stay in bed until its "Ok to wake!" The nightlight timer is programmed to turn on and off at any time of the day. Parents can customize the "Ok to wake" time, when the glow color changes from yellow to green.... "Green means Go!" From ages 5-7, the Teach me Time! interactive, talking game helps school age kids learn to tell time on both anaolg and digital clocks. The game is designed to create a dialog between you and your child about time, keeping you involved in the learning process. The Teach Me Time! game is fully adjustable - five difficulty levels allow you to restrict which times are displayed (for example, just "round" hours) so that you can start simple and progress in difficulty as your son or daughter matures. For children ages 7 and above, Teach me Time! is a fully functional alarm clock with a snooze function- just like mom or dad's! Teach me Time! is white with interchangeable colored bezels (blue, pink & yellow included). Safety-certified external AC adapter and optional 2x AAA batteries (included). Teach Me Time! has been tested for lead paint content and has passed all related tests as defined by the ASTM F963-07 sec. 4.3.5.1 safety specification.

"Yes "nightlight" feature is optional but Super Bright LED's in feet are not! Here is how to fix." 2010-02-22
By M. C. Thomas (Charlotte, NC United States)
Just to clarify things a bit. The clock has three lights. Two of them are yellow LED lights in the "feet" of the clock and are always on. A third light (also a yellow one) is in the "body" of the clock and can be set to "off". As one poster mentioned, you can set this "nightlight" to off or on by adjusting the "OK to wake" time, but YOU CANNOT TURN OFF THE LED LIGHTS IN THE FEET!!! The feet lights are REALLY bright (about as bright as a standard wall nightlight) and cannot be turned off easily (but you can turn them off permanently as I will explain below.)

I went ahead and purchased this clock knowing it would be bright because another poster mentioned that you can turn off the LED feet lights by using a screwdriver and some electrical tape and 10 minutes. No, sorry. It is more like 30 minutes to an hour and two screwdrivers, a steady hand, and lots of patience! After much frustration and dropping of tiny screws onto the carpet, I managed to turn those LED suckers off and now it works great! I thought I would share with you my experience so that you will have an easier time of doing the job (and maybe it won't take you as long as it took me. :-))

You will need:

- 1 "small" phillips head screwdriver

- 1 "tiny" (like for computers or eyeglasses) phillips head screwdriver

- Black electrical tape

- 1 thumbtack or needle or something sharp

I recommend that you do not drink coffee before attempting this because you will need VERY steady hands. Also, use a large table without clutter so that you do not lose the screws. You can also use a towel to place the screws on so that they don't roll off the table. Prepare for this to take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your skill with a screwdriver and working with very tiny things.

1. Turn clock over.

2. Use "small" screwdriver to remove battery compartment screw and place aside.

3. Use "tiny" screwdriver to remove screws from bottom of feet and place aside.

4. Turn clock partially over again and find deep screw holes in the backs of the feet. Remove screws using the "small" screwdriver.

5. Pull white body of clock apart to expose circuit boards in feet.

6. Carefully remove two screws from one circuit board. (Do them one at a time so that you can compare how the first one is put back together by looking at the second one.)

7. Place a small black square of electrical tape over each LED on the front of the boards. (I used two layers to completely shade the light.) The two LED's are labeled in tiny letters and are located on each end of the circuit board.

8. Punch holes (using a thumbtack or needle) in the tape where the circuit board holes are (so that the board will fit back into place over the plastic protuberances that poke through it).

9. Once circuit boards are in place screw them back to the clock and repeat each step above in reverse order.

From the other poster's advice on how to turn off the nightlight by adjusting the "Ok to wake" feature:

From the American Innovative website FAQ on this product:

"I am using the "Ok to wake!" feature. Can I set just the green light to come on in the morning?

Yes. If you do not want the yellow light on during the night, you can set just the green light to come on in the morning. The LIGHT ON time will be set to the desired "Ok to wake!" time (i.e. 7am), the LIGHT OFF time is set to the time you want the green light to turn off (i.e. 9am) and the LIGHT change time must be set equal to the OFF time (i.e. 9am). With this set up the green light will come on at 7am and turn off at 9am."

"Wonderful learning tool! Plus, let's us sleep too!" 2010-02-15
By E. Asfahl (Arkansas)
My boyfriend's 4-year-old is still getting used to sleeping in his own "big boy bed." He didn't understand when it was OK to get up. He would come into our bedroom multiple times a night, his dad would tell him to please get back in his big boy bed, and we would sometimes go but not after crying and sometimes throwing a fit (since he was still tired). Plus, he was also always asking his dad what time it was, sometimes 10-20 times a day! He didn't want to wear his own watch and didn't really understand how to read a digital watch anyway. I thought this would be something cool to try. Maybe it would allow us to sleep soundly through the night and help the 4-year-old understand when it was OK to get up. He absolutely loves it. Even though he's still a bit too young to play the game that teaches kids how to tell time on their own, he loves being able to go into his bedroom and push the button to let the clock tell his what time it is. Then he'd come back to us beaming and all proud to report the time to us. It's definitely worth the price. And I think we'll get a whole lot more out of this product in the years to come.

"Educational and kind of fun but alarm may be too loud for young child" 2010-02-09
By K. Kelsey
Neat clock with great features to teach analog time in this digital age. A little tricky to set but works if you read directions carefully. My 5 year old daughter got this from Santa and her favorite feature is that she can change the bezel color from blue to yellow to pink. My favorite features are the "toe button" that speaks the time and the time-telling games that come with it - you can start with very basic games (eg. round numbers like 3 o'clock) and then gradually increase difficulty (eg. 3:30, then 3:15, then 3:20, then 3:23). A little pricey but you get a lot of features. Kind of funky and modern-looking. Doesn't take up too much space on the dresser top. Overall a decent value.

 "Good Clock" 2010-02-08
By Bonnie Newton
This clock is great for toddlers that can't tell time yet. This clock has really been great for getting out two year old to stay in bed in the morning. We've had some problems with the plug for this clock not always working, which has been a bit annoying, but overall we're very happy. I wish you could program the clock to turn green at two different times. Sometimes trying to explain to a 2 year old that when it turns green in the morning they can get out of bed, but at nap time it doesn't can be a little difficult.

"Perfect for my two kids" 2010-02-01
By 2kids
I got each of kids one of these clocks and purposely put an alarm on the older child (4) and DID not put one on the younger child (almost 3). For my oldest the alarm is working beautifully! He looks forward to getting up, comes in our room and says the clock is green, it's wake up time. And he love touching the feet to hear what time it is and matching it up with the way the minute hand moves around and around. I think he figured out how to turn off the alarm but thankfully he isn't jumping back in bed. The only problem is that his next move is to wake up his sister (who we don't want to wake up that early) and then come jump in our bed instead of starting with his routine. I rated this product a 5 star because it accomplishes exactly what it told you it would. If they could figure out a way to allow you to record a personal message like "Good Morning, Don't wake your sister up and got immediately to the potty" this would be the best clock ever made. But I guess those last two requests are just my issues...(smile) Definitely get this clock, you'll love it.

"Son liked it but this was the most annoying toy. EVER." 2010-04-12
By T. Mikula (Northwest Indiana)
I don't know how educational this toy really is since young children are not going to try and find the arrows to see what they are pointing at for that moment. I do know that my husband would ask me to hide this so that we didn't have to listen to it anymore. There are 2 volume levels but even quiet wasn't quiet enough to stop us from hearing "Spin, spin a letter!!" in our sleep. My son did like this as he got it at 6months old. I got rid of it around 18months old to make room for the new Christmas toys. I haven't missed it yet :)

 "Great quality spinning toy!" 2010-03-28
By R. Mastromauro (Fresh Meadows, NY)
This is a wonderful spinning toy for my 8 month old son. He loves spinning things and right now this is the best spinner he has. The cute little animal sounds, songs and alpabet are great too. Simple device and wonderful execution on it!

They should make something similar with nursery rhymes as he loves hearing them on other v-tech toys and leapfrog toys. I highly recommend this for the little one that likes spinning and having a response once it spins (music, alphabet, animal sounds, etc)

I got this for my son for his third birthday and he loves it. He has been playing with it 2-3 times a day since he received it and it is really helping him with his lower case letter recognition. The other say we were reading a book together and he picked out the word "bird" from the text, and there wasn't even a picture of a bird on the page. The boards are beautifully designed and the letters are very sturdy. I wish they made a set with upper case letters too!

The Meliss and Doug see and spell is a wonderful way for your toddler to learn his letters, as well as working on motor function. I like that there are many different colors that the letters come in and that in order to spell the word on the wooden card, the child needs to place the letter in the right spot, and there is a nice picture of the word they're spelling on the card. It's a very well thought out learning toy from design to finish.
