VERY easy to assemble, good storage, glides across the floor smoothly when moving it. This made a nice addition to my son's room for quiet time playing. Came with Legos and RR tracks to get us started!

 "Very pleased..." 2010-06-01
By You Wish
We purchased this for my son's third birthday, and he LOVES it! It has lots of "lasting" playtime potential...he'll play with it all day if I let him. It's well built, attractive, and the right size for a smaller play space. The train tracks are easy to put together, even for a preschooler. He hasn't used the Lego side much yet, but I figure that will come later. Overall, a great product.

"Good but doesn't work with Duplo" 2010-05-09
By Reviewer (Raleigh, NC)
I read a lot of reviews for lego tables. I finally picked this one after reading several reviewers state that you could use this with duplo legos. My daughter 23 months old and I don't feel comfortable giving her regular legos yet. We have a 70+ piece set of duplo legos that we bought that she plays with "on" the table but you unless you use adult strength you can't really get them to work on the table. There are some blocks that work but most of the bigger pieces (larger flat ones) will not work on the table.

My daughter is about 32" tall and can easily stand at the table and play. I contemplated buying a chair or something for her to use to sit and play but I don't think it would work given the low sides.

The table is very easy to put together and is well made. It took me approximately 10-15 minutes to put it together by myself. It probably would have taken less time if there was another person to help hold pieces as you worked. Overall great product!

"Birthday present for two year old" 2010-02-28
By Liz
I bought this table for my son's second birthday and he loves it! He's never really been into trains prior to receiving this table so it's an added bonus to see him become highly interested in something new. Right now the Lego pieces are too small for him (which we knew when we ordered) so he is using Duplo blocks. He definitely needs my help to snap them onto the board but they do fit. It was easy for me to assemble and seems sturdy so far. KidKraft enclosed an info. sheet with numbers where you can reach them if you have difficulty assembling or miss a part. I thought it was good value for the money, although it was a bit on the expensive side.

This was a gift for my 2 year old grandaughter. It is solid enough that we don't worry about her hurting herself on it - no sharp corners. Nice storage under the top of the table.

Just want to say that this toy is not worth its price. It is made of a cheap stuff and quality looks very bad. More over it is hard for kids to view through.

 "These are not binoculars" 2010-02-01
By Kelly K. Bond (Columbus, Oh)
Very dissapointing. I purchased one pair for my daughter(7) and one for my son (4) so they would stop taking mine all the time. The viewer is equivalent to looking through a warped piece of glass and it's easier to see with your eyes than these "binoculars". I'm surprised since the quality of Melissa and Doug toys is usually excellent. This is a case of "you get what you pay for". I will now look for a set of real binoculars that are more than just cute.

When I received the butterfly binoculars the butterfly was already broken and the box had been taped shut. Maybe a return from another customer? Very tacky but too late to get a new one by Christmas.

"Cute but you can never get them dry" 2010-08-10
By Thai Mama (CA)
The little characters are really cute and my son loves them. However, most of the characters are hard to squirt and pretty much impossible to get all of the water out. My son also couldn't really push the characters together to link them. I had bought this at a store and didn't see the reviews until I was looking for a new bath toys :(

The two stars are for being cute and having the hanging bag, which could be reuse for other bath toys.

 "Fun...but fill with mold/mildew" 2010-03-28
By Shrekman
We got these for our son for Christmas, and he has really enjoyed them. On a few occasions, they have left the bath and traveled around the house with him. After noticing some color changing, I cut one of the less used animals in half to find mold/mildew had grown in the toy. We quickly tossed the discolored toys in the trash. I would consider repurchasing these toys, but will not be planning on using them as bath toys.

 "Okay, not great" 2009-10-15
By Joanna Seaman
My 3 yr. old son and his little sister received these as a gift. They are bright and colorful, but a little too hard for their little fingers to squeeze. Some are better than others. I even have trouble with the coral piece. They still enjoy them, but its a bit less interactive and more me spraying them.

"too hard to squirt and mildew buildup" 2009-06-21
By Jessie Leung (Queens, NY)
I first thought these were so adorable. They don't squirt well at all. The material is too hard to squeeze out the water. The water that's stuck in the toy builds up mildew and you don't want that floating in your baby's bath water or even let your baby put in his mouth. I think it's meant for playpen playtime not bath time. I say don't waste your money. Get the cute little squirt duckies instead.... and I did!

 "Not pleased" 2009-06-05
By Arnold Ali (NYC, NY)
I coulnt find many bathe toys out there and this one seemed the most popular but after the first couple of bathes, I was terribly disappointed. The toys pick up a lot of water and they are not easy to squeeze out so the water stays in there and turns into black mold. Its so disgusting because my little one either tries to suck on it or the black mold gets into the tub. Looking for a better alternative.

"The design can be better, but it is already nice." 2010-08-06
By Ginny
I arranged them in one S-line, similar to the picture (but in one line) for a high-ceiling staircase wall. Although I thought they will not be "long enough", they actually turned out to be even a bit longer than I needed them to be. I recommend keeping just a few of the petals and forgetting about the butterflies. The design could probably have been a little better, the black of the stems could have used some shades and the flowers could have looked a bit more gentle, but it is already nice. Also, be patient when you arrange them - I think I redid the whole thing about 10 times until I get the S-shape right.

 "Love them!" 2010-07-29
By Sarah
I bought this as a decoration for my dorm room, since we're only allowed 5 nails and no tape. My RA still has to okay them, but since they're specially made to be removed without stripping paint or leave residue, I have a feeling it will be fine. I tried them out on my wall at home and they are gorgeous! They remove just as easily as the description says. There were slight fold lines in some of the flowers from transport, but these were easily smoothed out. All in all, a gorgeous product!

Listen up mommy and daddy, you get more than your money's worth with this product! All the pieces are smooth, so there are no safety concerns, and as far as educational value goes, not only is this a beginning puzzle for your child, it's a beginning shape sorter AND assists in learning colors! I love this product and so do both of my children (1 and 2 years old). Highly recommend!!!

 "Solid fun" 2010-02-01
By Kristina P (New Jersey)
I bought this for my 18-month old daughter for Christmas and she really enjoyed it from the start. She picked up on how to fit the circle shapes right away, and is still working on the others, but even putting the shapes in willy-nilly is fun for her.

The only downside is that storage is tricky - the pieces can fall away from the board and get lost easily. It seems like the designers could have fashioned some sort of rubber-band or even a lid that would hold things in place.

Customer Buzz
 "Utilitarian, But Hugely Versatile" 2010-01-24
By goonius (a room in a house on a street in a city just like any other.)
I'll confess, I was fairly undecided on whether this toy would be any actual fun. But since my two year old is really into shapes, colors, and simple numbers and I've just confiscated all the scary Melissa & Doug (see:toxic) puzzles in their collection, I thought this might stand as a fair replacement.

The kids, 23 months & 4 years, both immediately loved it; ie. The youngest immediately took control of the toy whilst being loudly scolded by the bossy 4-year old on how she wasn't assembling it correctly(!!!!), which quickly spun out of control, and ended up in a draw with both of them letting out an ear-splitting screech. In toddler/preschooler world, I suppose this is a "two-thumbs up."

After the dust settled, I took a look-see at this new toy, and received a few reprimands from the 4-year old on my unorthodox experiments with it. Namely the totally cool discovery that this toy not only teaches about colors, shapes numbers, with a little dexterity thrown in, but it also fits the bolts and nails that come with the Green Toys Tool Set they own, and that it also makes a whole new 'wardrobe' for their Turnello the Mouse toy that they received for Christmas. My youngest, had she not been in such a tizzy at this point might have approved, but my four-year old insisted this kind of out-of-the-box thinking was a highly unacceptable use of a toy with only one stated purpose.

Against her explicit warning, and under her disapproving eye, I continued to compose a little car - that would even roll for a time - though the nuts inevitably fell off, and thus the 'wheels' detached.

My four year old, witnessing my experiments, eventually conceded there might be other cool things you could do with these pieces, and built a little neighborhood, with houses made from the 3-peg triangles and 4-peg rectangles, and over-sized people made from 2-peg rectangles topped with a circle. She flipped the board over to use as a mini-table for this project. Then she sat on the board, and we all held our breath thinking one of the pegs might pop off, but it withstood her 30-odd pounds of weight, so that speaks well of the integrity of the workmanship.

I bet there are even more uses for these little flat pieces we haven't yet imagined. But I'm so crazy-bored I may just discover them over the course of a few days!

In any case, chances are you can find a plethora of ways to use this toy - if the kids will allow it. Our toy seems pretty well-constructed, and it's attractive enough - though more utilitarian in appearance than most of the Plan Toys we own. And actually it's not a bad little teaching tool to have around, even if you do only use it for the stated purpose.

And, unlike Melissa & Doug, Plan Toys line of products has been tested extensively - via XRF - by the Ecology Center, with one of the best safety records of any toy on the market. So I feel pretty good about my children playing with this toy, or using the pieces as throwing stars in their endless competition of sibling rivalry. Whatever. They might lose an eye, but at least I won't have to worry about lead and cadmium, so that's something.

Bottom line: This is a great toy. Open ended. Educational. Safe. I highly recommend it.

 "Fun memory/geography game" 2010-05-05
By Joe Sixpack -- Slipcue.com (...in Middle America)
This is a fun "go fish"-style memory game, where players choose from a number of face-down tiles trying to match up pairs of faces of children from a wide variety of countries. Only a couple dozen countries are included, but they run a wide swath of cultures -- Asian, African, European, South and North American, with differences accentuated by having most of the kids dressed in traditional clothes (instead of FuBu and Nike, which is what they probably really are all wearing... :-)

The rules are simple, making this ideal for younger players, while the multi-ethnic parade of faces and exotic locales will stimulate the imagination. Plus, I'm a big fan of picturebook author Lizzie Rockwell's artwork, which is particularly appealing here. Recommended! (Joe Six, ReadThatAgain children's book reviewer)

 "Classic game, SUPERB QUALITY." 2010-04-04
By Nuknuk (Springfield, VA United States)
This classic game has been issued hundreds of times and by so many toy manufacturers before. But this company has been making them with exceptional quality. Each square is made of brick thick sturdy board. No sharp edges and cut very uniform. Using faces is also a great idea, I myself am pretty bad remembering faces and names, hopefully my kids will pick up more than just simply pairing them. Discerning subtle differences on faces like hair, face shapes, eyes, noses, may help them to be more focused on details (and hopefully help them to remember real people faces).

I usually don't care much about this kind of toys - I mean, if they lose pieces or damage, like a throw away or garage sale item for next year. But the way it was made, it makes me want to take care of it more or pass it on to someone else.

"Chunky tiles fit small hands perfectly" 2009-11-14
By J. C. Wallace (Texas gulf coast)
Our other memory games look like a regular deck of standard playing cards printed on exceptionally thin paper. My 3 and 5 year old kids have a hard time grabbing the cards off of a tabletop to flip them, so after a dozen or so games, the cards are creased and frayed at the edges. Not a major concern, but an annoyance that slows down game play.

The eeBoo game solves this problem using tiles of a completely different design: the faces are printed on pressed cardboard squares roughly 2 inches wide and an eighth of an inch thick. The difference is striking: by shrinking the size and increasing the depth, the tiles are easily gripped by small hands. Games moves faster and the tiles hold their shape over time.

And I can confirm what most of the other reviews have made clear: the faces are cute and encourage curious minds to expand their geographic horizons. Guaranteed smiles the first time a new face is flipped over. Great family fun for all.

 "Fun Boat!" 2010-07-14
By P. Parks
I bought this boat for my one year old with his birthday money. There are two pieces that I put away for when he is older but overall I believe the set is safe for him to play with. The boat doesn't float long and sinks to the bottom of the tub so I would not recommend taking this boat set to a natural body of water because it would be hard to find when it sinks. The dolphins also do not float long because they are made with a hollow bottom and once tipped there is no longer an air pocket to hold them up. I didn't find this to be a problem due to the fact that dolphins swim below the surface most of the time. However, if you want a set for a lake or ocean this may no be the set for you. My child doesn't seem to mind and loves his boat set in and out of the water. I hope they make animal add on sets for more bath tub fun.

"Does not float for long" 2010-06-25
By Working Mum (Boston, MA)
My daughter loves the toy and the characters that come with it, but I bought it to play with in her small pool and it is not well designed when it comes to floating. The boat floats, but any bit of water intake or improper weight distribution and it sinks, as do the accessories. I like that it is a green toy, and that my daughter loves it, but I wish it would stay afloat.

We use this as a bath toy and my toddlers like it okay, but can't interact with the boat much b/c it fills with water very quickly and sinks to the bottom of the tub. It's too bad the boat's brown deck and blue bottom weren't made to fit together tightly. Like all Sprig toys, the set is very handsome and durable.

My five-year-old had the scuba guy and LOVED it so I bought him the Explorer Boat with some trepidation as he's getting to an age where things like video games are starting to peak interest. He loves the Explorer Boat though and plays with it often. The simplicity of these products make them amazingly creative for kids. He's now six and also has the hang glider. And named the scuba diver after himself because he says "he looks like me" (they have no faces -- added creativity).
