"Simple & effective way to teach sorting - colors/shapes/counting" 2010-04-26
By T. Rodgers
The concept of color and counting can be difficult to get across to a child, but this is almost the perfect toy to do that. Our daughter was starting to identify colors (mainly Orange, likely due to her familiarity to the color of the fruit) at about month 20, but we credit this toy with helping her identify the primary colors with consistency.

The only real 'complaint' is that it's not a puzzle that will keep their interest all that long. Obviously, like anything, parental involvement, encouragement and some creative rule changes will make the time spent all the more valuable.

 "Very fun" 2010-04-19

Just recently bought this for my 20 month old. She loves the stacking then turning it over to start again. Love the fact that this toy is wood and the paint seems very good quality, as all other Melissa and Doug products. The size of the shapes are perfect for little fingers!

"Simple but kids love it." 2010-04-18

My 3-year old and her 4-year old friend play with this all the time at their daycare's office. Simple and classic and I thought a little too simple, but they love it. You can't beat the price either.

"Paint comes off way too easily" 2010-02-08
By S. Kellner
My son got this for Christmas when he was 10 months old and we found out very quickly that the paint comes off soooo easily! He only has 2 teeth but still obviously puts everything in his mouth - well, those 2 little teeth got a significant amount of paint off whereas his other colored wooden toys have a much more durable paint that does not come off even after minutes of gnawing. Also, we have hardwood floors and when he crawls around when a piece in his hand, the paint inevitably comes off and gets rubbed on the floor, staining it with a streak. There are plenty of other similar toys on the market with more durable paint, i.e. the KID-O brand.

 "Christmas Winner" 2010-01-17
By R. Parrott
I bought this on Amazon for my 19-month old son this past Christmas. He loves taking the blocks off, putting them in color-coordinated piles, then restacking them on the columns. Definitely worth the price!
